WATERTOWN — The Community Action Planning Council of Jefferson County will encourage community members to collect CAPC items to be included in a time capsule to be opened in 2039.

The project commemorates the 50th anniversary of CAPC, which formed under the Economic Opportunity Act in 1964. From that legislation came many educational, employment and training programs, according to a CAPC news release.

Time capsule items may include artwork designed by Head Start and universal prekindergarten students, photographs, news clippings and notes from staff and volunteers. People who have items to contribute can call CAPC Deputy Director Dawn Cole at 782-4900, ext. 250.

Items must be received by June 13, and the agency will host a capsule dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. June 20 at its office, 518 Davidson St.
