Joyce B. Doherty, 81, widow of Paul F. Doherty and formerly of No. Hamilton St.,Watertown, passed away May 26th at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she had resided since December of 2004.

Funeral services were held for the convenience of the family with burial in Felts Mills Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home 3rd Floor activities fund, 133 Pratt St., Watertown, NY 13601. Arrangements are with the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.

Joyce was born in Watertown a daughter to Arthur and Alma Lester Bennett. She married Paul F. Doherty September 3, 1952 at Asbury United Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Doherty were stationed and several Army bases in the United States and Europe to include Austria, Germany, Virginia, Kentucky and Watertown, where they resided after Mr. Doherty’s retirement from the Army.

Mr. Doherty, a retired Army Master Sergeant that served in Korea and Vietnam and was a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient, passed away October 11, 1990.

Mrs. Doherty loved gardening and spending time in her yard. She was a former member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

Joyce is survived by two sons, Ricky Doherty and his companion, Jody Guido, Oswego; Gary (Lisa) Doherty, Cicero. Two daughters, Darlene Doherty; Karen (Richard) Johnston, Locus, NC. 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Two brothers and their wives, David (Linda) Bennett, Watertown; Dennis (Felicia) Bennett, Rochester. Nieces and nephews.
