CLAYTON – The Antique Boat Museum, 750 Mary St., will sponsor a free vessel inspection for area boaters from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 29 at the museum’s floating docks.
Members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla from Alexandria Bay will be present to inspect vessels.
The auxiliary will check all required paperwork and safety equipment, including boat registration certificate and registration decal, personal flotation devices (life jackets), Type IV flotation aids, fire extinguisher, horn or whistle, day and nighttime visual distress signals (flares), navigation lights, anchor and line.
Bowline Boutique, the museum’s store, carries select boating essentials in the event that items are needed to pass inspection.
Upon successful completion of the inspection, boaters will receive a Coast Guard inspection sticker to place on the vessel’s windshield. The sticker will not prevent Coast Guard stops on the river, but will certainly facilitate the encounter.
