TALCOTTVILLE — A Port Leyden teen was charged at 7:48 a.m. Sunday by Lewis County sheriff’s deputies with driving while intoxicated after a one-vehicle accident.
Brett M. Compo, 17, of 3774 Marmon Road, fell asleep at the wheel and drove off the left side of Route 12D in the town of Leyden just north of Roger Road at 6:10 a.m., according to a sheriff’s report.
He allegedly caused damage to his vehicle and a culvert pipe on the side of the road, then left the scene before patrols arrived. He was arrested later at his residence.
Brittany Vaughn, 17, Boonville, was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Both passengers were uninjured and declined medical treatment. Mr. Compo also was charged with failure to keep right and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
