LISBON — A Lisbon man was charged with driving while intoxicated Tuesday after his truck struck a school bus carrying six children and two adults including the driver, police said.

At 5:22 p.m. on County Route 28 in the town of Lisbon, state troopers said, Timothy J. Dishaw, 45, was eastbound in his 2006 Dodge pickup truck when he crossed the center line and entered the westbound lane, striking the rear driver’s side tire of the school bus. Troopers said the driver realized Mr. Dishaw’s vehicle was headed into his lane and attempted to move out of the way of the vehicle but was unable to do so.

There were no reported injuries to any of the occupants on the bus.

Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad also responded to the scene and took Mr. Dishaw to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg, where he was treated for a broken ankle and released. He also consented to a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content.

Mr. Dishaw additionally was charged with drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway and failing to keep right on a two-lane road. Troopers said they found open containers of alcohol in his truck.

He was issued an appearance ticket for Town Court. The investigation is to continue and further charges are pending.
