The editorial that ran Sunday, June 1, demonstrates the Watertown Daily Times’s and the Johnson family’s generational concern and support of our communities across the northern counties of New York. This newspaper for generations has not only announced the good deeds done by many but has also reminded us of our duties as citizens of our communities.
“It’s up to the rest of us to keep our eyes and hearts open to those in need and give what we can,” the editorial read.
As chair of the first annual Immaculate Heart Central Memorial Golf Tournament, I witnessed firsthand the generosity and the support of many, many local individuals and businesses, the Times included. I would like to emphasize another quote from the editorial: “We also should continue supporting our local businesses to reward the people who provided this van ...”
These local businesses are at the heart of our communities’ ability to contribute to our youths and other worthy causes. Support our local businesses; they are always willing to support us!
