POTSDAM — SUNY Potsdam’s Community Performance Series is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and will open with two musicals this summer.
The season will start July 7 with “Cats” in the newly renovated Performing Arts Center. The 7:30 p.m. performances will run through July 12, with matinees at 2 p.m. July 9 to 12.
“Anything Goes” will run at the same times from July 22 to 26 in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater at the Crane School of Music.
“We are not necessarily doing anything extra to commemorate the 25th anniversary, but we’re focusing on serving the community that’s been so supportive for so many years,” Community Performance Series Executive Director Amy L. Flack said. “We knew the community would be very receptive to those titles and we’ve already received very positive feedback.”
Ms. Flack said the group will be starting production soon. She said auditions were held in March in both Potsdam and New York City.
“The casts are coming from all over the country,” she said.
Ms. Flack said the musicals will be followed by the concert season, which consists of five or six performances and will begin in September.
Then it will have a Meet the Arts season for countywide youth to come and enjoy a variety of performances.
Tickets for the musicals, which range from $15 to $50, can be purchased online at www.cpspotsdam.org, by phone at 267-2277 or at Northern Music & Video, 29 Market St.
