FC Freeze U12 Girls, U18 Boys notch soccer wins


CANTON - The FC Freeze U12 girls soccer team kicked off the 2014 season with an 8-0 win over Lewis County United SC.

Olivia Mace (Ohio) started FC’s scoring machine with a breakaway unassisted goal 90 seconds into the game. Nine minutes into the game Katharine Cowen (Potsdam) blasted an unassisted goal over the goalie’s outstretched hand. One minute later Mace scored her second unassisted goal with a well placed ball in the right side of the net. With 12 minutes remaining in the first half, midfielder Gabrielle Jones (Potsdam) passed the ball to Cowen who fired a shot into the left lower corner of the net. Four minutes later Jones scored an unassisted goal with a blistering shot into the net.

With minutes left in the first half Mace scored her first hat trick of the season with another unassisted goal. Coach Eileen Coyle then moved Mace to center back.

At half-time the score was 6-0. FC Freeze controlled the ball throughout the majority of the game. Coyle moved her players to multiple positions during the contest, this included four different players in goal.

In the second half Cowen scored her first hat trick with an assist credited to Sophia Janoyan (Potsdam). Janoyan scored the last FC’s goal which came off an assist from Louisa Moosbrugger (Potsdam).

FC Freeze travels to Watertown on Tuesday for their next game against Upstate United SC Duck Dynasty (1-0).


Tallying the final three goals of the game, the Upstated United 18U team of Watertown pulled away for a 6-3 victory over the FC Freeze team on Thursday night NNYSL action.

For the locals, Madrid-Waddinton’s Tyler Robinson scored from 25 yards out with the assists coming from Ogdensburg’s Peyton Lalone, Potsdam’s Dominic Frascatore scored on a pretty give and go with Parishville-Hopkington’s Wyatt Snell then Snell added his own goal with Potsdam’s Pat Normandin supplying the nice center feed. Potsdam’s David Caamano and Canton’s Stephen Folk combined for 13 saves in the FC Freeze crease.
