WATERTOWN — City police charged Jamie M. Doyle, 48, of 165 Union St., rear apartment, with third-degree possession of a weapon, disorderly conduct and seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance after he allegedly brandished a knife Friday night.

Police said Mr. Doyle took part in a fight that drew out 10 people on Sterling Street. Police said about that time, he showed the 7-inch knife as he approached Seth A. LaBarge, of 675 Bronson St., making Mr. LaBarge believe he was about to be attacked. Stopped by police, Mr. Doyle also allegedly had clonazepam pills in his pants pocket without a prescription.

Charged at 9:46 p.m. Friday on the 300 block of Sterling Street, he was held pending an appearance in City Court.
