CICERO — The Canton girls 3,200-meter relay pulled ahead early and raced to the Division II championship in record time at the state meet Saturday at Cicero-North Syracuse high school.

Gemma DelRossi, Rebecca DelRossi, Laura Pierce and Maria Ricalton completed the race in 9 minutes, 8 seconds to set a Section 10 record. The time was also a personal best for the relay.

The Golden Bears held the lead three laps into the eight-lap race and didn’t relinquish it.

In other events involving area north country athletes, Indian River’s Shane Davis placed fourth in the Division I 200 meters and took fifth in the Division 1 100.

Watertown’s Matthew Olney finished sixth in the Division I pentathlon.
