Collegiate baseball: Clouse delivers victory for Watertown Rams

UTICA — Zander Clouse allowed just one hit in seven shutout innings, leading the Watertown Rams to an 11-1 rout of the Utica Brewers in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game Saturday night at Murnane Field.

Clouse didn’t give up a hit until the fifth inning when John Jennings hit a bloop single for Utica (0-3).

Matt Diorio’s two-run single highlighted a six-run third inning for the Rams (2-2), who won their second straight game after dropping their first two to start the season.

The Rams scored their first run on a catcher’s interference call with the bases loaded.

Diorio then delivered his hit to give Watertown a 3-0 lead.

Watertown scored on one of four Utica errors, and also added a run on a wild pitch.

The Rams will host the undefeated Albany Dutchmen at 5 p.m. tonight at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.
