The state Department of Environmental Conservation on Friday released a draft Adirondack Park Trail Plan for the North Country National Scenic Trail, as the department looks to expand its trail network across the region.
DEC’s plan recommends following approximately 81 miles of existing foot trail and constructing 38 miles of new trails within the park. An additional 39 miles of temporary connections will be used initially to make connections on the route.
Within the Adirondack Park, the North Country scenic trail will be approximately 158 miles long when complete, stretching from the hamlet of Forestport in Oneida County to the hamlet of Crown Point on the shore of Lake Champlain.
