DEFERIET – Bernard Joseph Rello “Joe”, 92, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 6, 2014 with friends and family gathered at his side.

He was married to his beloved wife Marion, for 68 years. He was a WWII veteran awarded the Purple Heart and served in North Africa and Italy. He worked 40 years at the St. Regis Mill in Deferiet, New York. He was a Life member of The American Legion and the Elks and was also a member of the VFW.

He is survived by his wife Marion and two children; a daughter Linda and her husband Robert Pierce of Michigan and a son Bernard Rello of Colorado. He is also survived by his grandchild, Christopher McClelland, four other grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are his nieces, nephews, and their spouses; a niece, Rose and Ron Wheeler, nephew, Dave and Prudy D’Auria, nephew, Robert D’Auria, niece Linda and Paul Buffa and a niece Grace and Heinz Gorski.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 12:30 PM at the Black River Cemetery on June 12, 2014 with the Deacon Richard J. Staab, officiating. Visitation will be held at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 500 State St., Carthage from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, prior to the funeral.
