WATERTOWN — A 12-year-old boy was taken to Samaritan Medical Center with a knee injury after hitting a car with his bike early Thursday.

City police said Harryson C. Tyre, 12, of 322 Clay St., was biking down Winslow Street at 6:58 a.m. when he went into the road’s intersection with Gotham Street and hit the back passenger side of a car driven by James L. Fralick, 61, of 24399 County Route 67. They boy, who told police that his brakes did not work and that he was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from his bike during the crash.

Police noted Harryson was traveling down the wrong side of the road, and his view was blocked by bushes.

No tickets were filed by police to either party.
