Flags across the state will fly at half-staff today to remember Spc. Terry J. Hurne, a Fort Drum soldier who died Monday in Logar province, Afghanistan, of non-combat injuries.
Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo made the order Wednesday.
Spc. Hurne, of Merced, Calif., was an utilities equipment repairer with the 710th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat, 10th Mountain Division.
Fort Drum reported Wednesday that Spc. Hurne joined the Army in 2009 and arrived on post in 2010. He was on the second deployment of his career at the time of his death.
Spc. Hurne is survived by his wife, mother and father.
