NORFOLK — A Norfolk woman has been charged with cashing eight checks stolen from her father for the alleged purchase of drugs.
State police charged Brynn L. Dickerson, 23, of 286 Lacomb Road, with eight felony counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Troopers allege that between May 8 and May 30 Ms. Dickerson signed her father, Shawn Dickerson’s, name on eight checks written on his business account, Dickerson Transmission and Auto Repair. The checks, ranging from $100 to $150, and totaling $890, had been taken without Mr. Dickerson’s permission, troopers said.
According to court records, Ms. Dickerson acknowledged the proceeds from one of the cashed checks had been used to purchase 1½ Special K pills, the street name for ketamine hydrochloride, after family members were concerned that Ms. Dickerson had a substance abuse problem with pills.
Ms. Dickerson was arraigned in Massena Village Court, released under the supervision of the probation and ordered to undergo an alcohol and substance abuse evaluation.
