North Country Collision of Potsdam and the FC Freeze kicked off the 2014 North Country Women’s Soccer League season with wins on Tuesday.

NC Collison 3, Akwesasne 2: After playing to a scoreless draw in the first half, Abby Gruneisen broke through for a pair of goals in the second to spark NC Collision to the win. Lia Davis connecte for the other goal while Jenny Tardelli made 10 saves backstopping the win.

FC Freeze 5, Gouverneur 0: Alicia Jones converted on a penalty kick 12 minutes into the game and that would hold up as the game-winner. Mary Young went on to added three goals and Brianna Hayes chipped in a singleton to round out the scoring. Morgan Doyle, Ashley Pike, Lauren Smith and Jessica Beattie all drew solo assists while Morgan Rosser worked the crease in the shutout.
