I am writing in response to the negative and mean-spirited remarks made about Elise Stefanik. I have lived and worked in this area all my life as a wife, mother, grandmother and registered nurse.
I have lived my life believing that every single person deserves respect, consideration and kindness. In return for the way I have lived my life, I have received positive results and appreciation for my caring attitude.
Mean accusations accomplish nothing. Unkindness begets unkindness.
Elise is a young woman who has excelled in her academic education in a short period of time and achieved an understanding of governmental administration. She will be a very effective representative for us.
She is a new face in politics, and I for one want to see more young people go into the political arena. We need more young dedicated people in government.
Words can and do hurt. Words can and do damage a person’s life. Please stop the mud-slinging.
I believe in the American dream. If a black man can rise to become president of the United States, why shouldn’t a young woman be able to run for a congressional seat? Why can’t she be allowed to follow the American dream?
Why is she being demeaned and ostracized for following her heart? Why shouldn’t Elise Stefanik warrant our consideration and respect for what she is choosing to do to serve us as a congresswoman?
I am asking those who are being so unkind and mean-spirited to her to please stop maligning her character and to stick to the issues. We have an opportunity to elect a young, energetic representative who has demonstrated her enthusiasm and her caring attitude for the individual. Please give her a chance.
