Delete Blood Cancer, a national bone marrow donor center, will hold bone marrow donor registrations Wednesday in Ogdensburg and Canton.
According to the organization, each year over 14,000 people battling blood cancer and marrow-related illnesses in the United States are in need of a bone marrow transplant. Of those, 70 percent will not find a donor match in a relative and will have to seek an unrelated donor on the national registry.
Delete Blood Cancer and the Jules of Life Foundation are teaming up to find more matches for patients in need. Registration is as simple as a cheek swab and takes only five minutes. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 55 is eligible to register to save a life.
The Ogdensburg registration will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Dobisky Visitors Center, 100 Riverside Ave. The Canton registration is from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Best Western University Inn Golf Lounge, 90 E. Main St.
