GOUVERNEUR — An Antwerp man and a Gouverneur man were arrested Saturday on charges of criminal possession of stolen property.
Richard R. Aldridge, 25, of Gouverneur, was charged by state police at 8:31 a.m. Saturday in the town of Gouverneur with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and second-degree possession of a forged instrument, both felonies. He was arraigned and sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $3,000 cash bail.
Phillip T. Merritt, 30, of Antwerp, was charged by state police at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at 110 Main St., Antwerp, with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, second-degree possession of a forged instrument and first-degree offering a false instrument, all felonies.
State police said they cannot comment about what was stolen because the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are pending.
