The World War II origins of Fort Drum’s 10th Mountain Division could be hitting the silver screen.

A report in Variety said actor Robert Redford plans to produce a film based on the book “Climb to Conquer: The Untold Story of WWII’s 10th Mountain Division Ski Troop.”

The book documents the training of the unit in Camp Hale, Colo., as it recruited a collection of ski instructors, college students and athletes, and its historic victories against Axis forces in the treacherous mountain ridges of Italy, including Mount Belvedere and Riva Ridge.

Kurt Johnstad, whose previous work includes “Act of Valor” and “300: Rise of an Empire,” is being tapped to adapt the book. The Variety report can be found at http://wdt.me/PD3QyH.
