CANTON — St. Lawrence NYSARC, a private, non-profit organization committed to maximizing the potential of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, recently hosted Kevin Spencer’s Healing of Magic program at St. Lawrence NYSARC’s Community Center in Canton. Spencer, a prominent authority on the therapeutic use of magic tricks in physical and psychological rehabilitation, led over 100 participants in a magic show and several workshops. The event was sponsored by Price Chopper’s Golub Foundation.
Mr. Spencer’s Healing of Magic activity is an exciting therapeutic modality that empowers the therapist with a valuable new tool that motivates participants to become more involved in their treatment. Kevin has received the Approved Providers Status of the American Occupational Therapy Association and is registered as a Professional Development Provider with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Healing of Magic is appropriate for people of all ages with various physical, psychosocial, and developmental disabilities. The program is being used in more than 2,000 facilities in over 30 countries.
