Ogdensburg Ladies show promise in first foothills match


A group from the Ogdensburg Ladies’ Golf Association traveled to Massena Tuesday for the first Foothills Match of the season.

Rose Bronchetti was medalist for the day, carding a 78 to lead her home golfers to a first place finish. Claire Wright, Carol Paige, Kathy Parisian, and Barb Reid rounded out her team, with 19¾ points.

Second place with 15¾ points was Gouverneur including Bosh Sigourney, Heather MacKinnon, Marie Frenyea, LeeAnn Bessette, and Chris Matejik. Canton, led by Julie Degone’s 89, MaryAnn Axtell, Linda Stone, Sandy Fadden, and Lennie McKinnon took third place with 13¾ points.

Scoring for Potsdam were Maureen Taylor, Lorraine Ford, Karen O’Brien, Mary Scott, and Michele Blevins with 9.75 points.

Ogdensburg placed fifth with 6 points led by Peg Langley, Beryl Trombley, Gail Bouchard, Jean Bracy, and Kay Hannan.

OLGA members are reminded that this week’s competition is the rain-dated Lucy Doyle, an 18 hole, handicapped tourney. Also the gals are reminded to keep track of their putts on the scorecards, as this round will also determine the putting platter winner.

Pairings will begin at 8:30, with tee-off immediately following.
