Gouverneur - Susan Elizabeth “Bid” Mashaw, 96, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Maplewood Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Canton.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 9th at 11:00 am in East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur with Rev. Howard Maxson, pastor of Fowler Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Bid was born January 9, 1918 in Auburn, NY, the daughter of Paul and Susan McDougall Evans.

She graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1937 and from Potsdam Normal in 1940.

Bid married Lawrence Mashaw on August 22, 1940 in Philadelphia.

Mr. Mashaw passed away September 28, 1987.

Bid was a homemaker and was also employed as a nursing assistant at the Kinney Nursing Home in Gouverneur. She had been a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and the E.J. Noble Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

Bid is survived by her two daughters Susan J. Pete of Watertown, Nancy A. Storie of Antwerp, four grandchildren Wendy Serviss of Canton, Rick Marcellus of Antwerp, Stephen Pete of Arizona, Christine Pete of Copenhagen, five great grandchildren Lindsey Serviss, Jordan Serviss, Josh Constance, Matthew Breyette, and Olivia Breyette, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, her parents, and two brothers Robert Evans and Mack Evans.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
