Honored: Collin Peacock, senior at Madrid-Waddington Central School, Madrid, was named the June BOCES Student of the Month by the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Peacock is enrolled in the building trades program in BOCES. He received a certificate of achievement from BOCES and a Chamber Dollars check.

St. Lawrence County

Honored: The St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Distance Learning Program held its annual honor cord ceremony with SUNY Canton on June 4. Forty-five students from nine school districts earned 333 credits for the 2013-14 school year.

Scholarship: The Northern Area Health Education Center Inc., Potsdam, recently awarded the 2014 Bruce C. Potter Memorial Scholarship to Brittany Widrick, senior at Beaver River Central School, Beaver Falls. Miss Widrick has been accepted into the nursing program at Le Moyne College, Syracuse. She has completed MASH Camp and job shadowing at Lewis County General Hospital, sponsored through NAHEC’s partnership with Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization.

Steward: Kathleen Pearson, Potsdam, has been selected as a steward for the Adirondack Watershed Institute over the summer. The AWI is a Paul Smith’s College-led initiative that protects rivers, lakes and other waterways against invasives and teaches boaters how to keep an eye out for problems on their own.
