POTSDAM — CJ’s-Chip’s Place outlasted St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union of Lisbon 2-1 in a North Country Men’s Summer Soccer matchup at the SUNY Potsdam turf field on Wednesday.
The visiting squad opened the scoring when Adam Felt converted on a penalty kick in the first half but Willi Steinrotter pulled CJ’s-Chip’s Place even when he connected on a free kick before halftime.
Chris Negron finished off a play set up by Ted Cook for the eventual game-winner in the second half.
Ben Steinberg and Tim Penrod combined to make three saves backstopping the win.
In the other games of the night, S&L Electric of Colton outscored AMP-Jreck Subs of Ogdensburg 2-1, Potsdam Cornerstone beat Heuvelton 6-1 and North Country Savings of Canton tied Ogdensburg Pepsi-The Place 2-2.
S&L Electric 2, AMP-Jreck’s 1: At Lisbon Central, Jeremy Dunning scored the lone goal of the first half for S&L Electric before Gian Rufa tied the game early in the second off an assist from Alec Manke. Mike Bonno broke through for the eventual game-winner while Gyle Dominy logged an assist.
Cornerstone 6, Heuvelton 1: At Heuvelton Central, Bebs Atems anchored the winning attack with three goals. Aaron Cote, Blake Hence and Matt Konecnik netted the others while TJ Jacobs countered with the lone Heuvelton marker.
North Country Savings 2, Pepsi-The Place 2: In Canton, Colby Young and Tom Alzo scored for the home team, both off an assist from John Gardner, while Austin Lamay turned aside eight shots working the crease.
