BENCH WARRANT - MASSENA - Village police picked up Kara L. Lapointe, 30, of 193 Center St., Massena, on an arrest warrant at 3:04 p.m. Wednesday on Ripley Street. Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson signed the warrant on June 3 alleging she had failed to appear in court as scheduled on pending petit larceny and possession of hypodermic needle charges.
She was arraigned on the warrant by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and released under the supervision of the probation department. She told the court she had missed her appointments because she had been involved in a substance abuse treatment program.
Village police had charged Lapointe with petit larceny on Jan. 4 after she allegedly shoplifted $214.94 worth of merchandise from Walmart. During processing on that charge, police found two hypodermic needles in her purse.
AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION - MASSENA - Village police charged Austin L. Bush, 20, of 231 Gladding Road, Massena, with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday following a traffic stop on Main Street.
DESIGNATED LANE VIOLATION - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Marjorie M. Bodway, 51, of County Route 55, Brasher Falls, for failure to stay in designated lane at 3:38 p.m. Wednesday after she struck a street sign on South Main Street.
