POTSDAM — Village board members voted Monday on surveying two damaged structures, whose owners have failed to inform the village of their plans for repairing or demolishing them.
After receiving no notice from the owner at 28 Pierrepont Ave., the village voted to have an engineer survey the property. The structure was heavily damaged by a fire Oct. 25 by a previous tenant.
“As of this time I have had no official reply,” village Code Enforcement Officer Gregory R. Thompson said in a June 24 memo to the village board.
The fate of the property at 11 Pleasant St. is undecided, as the owner recently died. The property was inundated by water from broken pipes from November 2008 through February 2009. The owner’s family, who now owns the property, must decide what to do.
“I would like some time for the state to assess the situation,” Mayor Steven W. Yurgartis said.
The board tabled the vote to survey that structure until its next meeting to give the family time to decide the property’s fate.
