CANTON - St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies charged Trista D. LaDue, 23, of 14 Malby Ave., Massena, with a felony count of first-degree promoting prison contraband and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance Monday after she was found in possession of a small quantity of heroin during a cell search at the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton.
Ms. LaDue had been jailed Sunday on a bench warrant for allegedly violating the conditions of her probation supervision on a second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument charge.
Deputies said an unidentified tan powder substance was located in Ms. LaDue’s living area during the cell search, and the sheriff’s department K-9 had a positive alert for the presence of illegal narcotics. The substance field tested positive for heroin, deputies said.
Ms. LaDue was arraigned on the new charges in Pierrepont Town Court and sent back to the county jail on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bnod. She is also being held on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond bail on the alleged probation violation.
