Lowville teen allegedly made terroristic threat against police

LOWVILLE — A Lowville Academy student has been charged by village police with making a terroristic threat, a felony, in connection with a June 13 incident in which he allegedly threatened police officers.

Joshua M. Ward, 16, address not available, Lowville, was charged Thursday with making the threat while at school. Initial reports indicated that the teenager had threatened to shoot and kill students at the school and that the plan also included shooting certain individuals at Walmart Supercenter, 7155 E. State St., although Police Chief Eric F. Fredenburg later said only law enforcement officers were threatened. Lowville Academy was never put in lockdown.

The teen was arraigned in Village Court before Justice Patricia H. Yarina and sent to Lewis County Jail on $10,000 bail to await possible grand jury action.
