BRASHER FALLS - Gandy Dancer used a late rally to claim an 11-9 win over Pit Stop-Big Boyz on Thursday in an Town and Tavern Modified Softball League matchup.
With the win, Gandy Dancer improved to 17-1 atop the league standings.
After battling back and fourth, Gandy Dancer took the lead for good in the top of the seventh on a two-run homerun by Justin Dowdle. Dave Hurley followed with a two-run single to seal the win. Dowdle, the game MVP, went 3-4 with two runs scored. Tim Harmer was 3-3 with two homeruns and three runs scored while Hurley was 4-4 with a homerun.
For Pit Stop, Michael Zelyez went 3-4 with two homeruns. AJ Kormanyos and Joe Arney both went 2-3 with two runs scored.
Riverview/Dar’s 17, Casino 7: Casino put up a great effort before Riverview-Dar’s found its offensive stride in scoring nine runs over the final three innings.
Josh Laduke led the way offensively going 4-5 with two homeruns and three runs scored. Mike Macaulay was 4-5 with three runs scored. Tim Keleher went 5-5 with a homerun, two doubles and three runs scored.
For Casino, Kevin Newton went 2-3 with two runs scored. Todd Planty (run scored) and Jarred Lanning contributed three hits apiece.
Laughing Crow 17, No Law Warriors 2: Laughing Crow scored 12 runs in the first two innings and never looked back in posting the win.
MVP Gilbert Jacobs earned the win, pitching a complete game, slowing down a hot Warriors team, by only giving up two runs while striking out two. He also went 2-4 with a run scored. Jarred Gray went 2-3 with a homerun and three runs scored. Matthew Bresett went 3-4 with a triple and three runs scored.
For the Warriors, Michael Weller tripled and scored a run. Erik McLaughlin homered and Mark Peets went 2-3.
Norwood Legion 16, Rampage 5: Chris Farnsworth drove in Mark Plante in the fifth inning with what would hold up as the game-winning as the Legion squad pulled away late for the win. Game MVP Chris McGrath was 4-4 with a homerun, double and two runs scored in the winning effort. Plante singled and scored twice while Cody Smith went 3-4 with a double and two runs scored.
Jake Pitcher went 3-3 with two runs scored in the losing cause. Jason Whalen (run scored) and John Snow both had solo hits.
JULY 7 GAMES
No Law Warriors 18, Rampage 6: The Warriors steadily pulled away from a 3-3 second-inning tie for their third straight win.
MVP Mark Peets went 2-2 with a homerun and three runs scored in the winning effort. Erik McLaughling was 3-4 with a double and three runs scored while Luke Peets went 2-3 with a run scored.
For Rampage, Herb Currier went 2-2 with a run scored. David Currier doubled twice and scored a run while David Lee Barney singled and scored twice.
Coast Guard 14, Norwood Legion 13: Coast Guard built a five-run lead before holding off a late rally for the win.
Zach Leffler earned MVP status going 3-4 with three homeruns. Chris Deshaies was 4-4 with a homerun, two doubles and two runs scored while Jarred Shope slugged a pair of homeruns.
For Legion, Ben Regan went 4-4 with three runs scored. Brian Gallant was 4-5 with a run scored while Michael Monica went 3-5 with a double and run scored.
Gandy Dancer 25, Timber Tavern 9: MVP Justin Dowdle had five strikeouts in tossing the win. He aided his own cause by going 4-4 with a homerun and two runs scored. Dave Hurley went 3-4 with three homeruns. Nick Frederick was 3-3 with three runs scored.
For Timber, Denny Keleher was 2-2 with two runs scored. Ronnie Plumadore (run scored) and Trevor Keleher (double) both went 3-3.
Riverview-Dar’s 8, Parishville Amvets 1: In a defensive battle, Amvets took the lead in the second inning with a run before Riverview-Dar’s countered with a decisive three-run rally in the bottom half.
MVP John Richards pitched the win, striking out two, while going 2-2 with a homerun and two runs scored. Patrick Thompson and Andrew Laughlin both had two hits including a homerun and came around to score twice.
For Amvets, Jeremy Zenger (run scored), Justin Storie (double) and Dennis Tebo, Jr., connected for two hits apiece.
