ALBANY — Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties have been awarded more than $225,000 through three state Homeland Security grant programs.
St. Lawrence County was awarded $62,522 through the state’s 2013-14 Public Safety Answering Point Grant program, which provides reimbursements for operating expenses associated with a county’s 911 system.
Jefferson County was awarded $52,000 through a program designed to build and sustain a county’s ability to respond to incidents involving hazardous materials.
All three counties were awarded money through the Emergency Management Performance Grant program, which is used to support emergency management staff positions and for planning, training and equipment expenses.
Jefferson County was awarded $48,863 through this program, Lewis County $15,222 and St. Lawrence County $47,246.
