The St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union donated $1,000 to St. Joseph’s Home to for first prize in their annual Golf Ball Drop.
St. Joseph Home announced today that their annual Gold Ball Drop will take place on Saturday, August 16 at 1 p.m. at Father Martin Field. Each year St. Joseph drops up to 2,000 numbered golf balls from Frank Richardson’s helicopter onto Father martin Field. The ball closest to the hole wins 1st prize of $1,000. Second closest receives $200, third closest receives $100. The numbers on the golf balls correspond to the numbers on the tickets you can buy for $5 each. The excitement builds as the chopper leaves Ogdensburg Airport and approaches the crowds waiting on the outside of Father Martin Field where everyone’s looking up to see the golf balls pouring out of the belly of helicopter. Measurements are made, the leader board is checked for the name of the person with the winning numbered ball and winners are announced. You do not need to be present to win. Special thanks goes out to Frank Richardson for the generous use of his helicopter, St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union, Blevins Brothers, Inc. and Jones Insurance Agency for prize money.
