ALEXANDRIA BAY — The Rev. Jack Anderson, pastor at Church of St. Lawrence here, will celebrate 50 years of ordained ministry in the Episcopal Church with an organ recital on Friday, July 18.
The Church of Saint Lawrence, on Mill Point at 7 Fuller St., is a summer chapel of the Episcopal Diocese of Central New York.
Lisa M. Scrivani-Tidd, director of music and organist at the church and professor of music at Jefferson Community College, will perform the recital at 7 p.m. July 18 at the church.
Mrs. Scrivani-Tidd resides in Alexandria Bay with her husband and two sons. She holds a doctor of music degree from Indiana University, a master of music degree in organ performance from the University of Tennessee and a bachelor of music degree in music education from SUNY Fredonia. She served for several years as university organist at St. Lawrence University, Canton, and as a music teacher in the public schools in Western and Northern New York.
Repertoire to be performed at the recital will include Felix Mendelssohn’s complete Opus 37, three preludes and fugues for organ, and selections from Opus 65, Six Sonatas for the Organ.
Mrs. Scrivani-Tidd also will perform Mendelssohn’s multi-movement Sonata VI, based upon the chorale, “Vater unser im Himmelreich” (“Our Father in Heaven”). Composed in 1844 and 1845, this treasure of historically important organ literature, Mrs. Scrivani-Tidd said, marked the beginning of a new era in organ music.
Admission to the July 18 concert is free.
