CAPE VINCENT — A Coast Guard boat crew rescued five people from the St. Lawrence Seaway on Saturday after their boat hit a large wake and capsized.
Just before 9:30 p.m., while returning to base from a patrol, a boat crew from the Coast Guard station in Alexandria Bay saw a 19-foot pleasure craft hit a large wake and capsize, throwing five individuals into the water. None were wearing life jackets, according to a news release from the Coast Guard about the incident.
The Coast Guard boat crew rescued all five people and another boater assisted in towing the capsized boat back to shore.
There were no reports of any injuries or pollution, according to the release.
