DENMARK — The Carthage Area Hospital Foundation annual golf tournament will enter its 25th year this summer.
“The Hospital Foundation is celebrating its 20th anniversary, too, so we’re marking a couple of milestones. Next year will be the 50th anniversary of the hospital,” foundation Executive Director Natalie M. Burnham said.
The tournament is set for July 25. “There will be a putting contest, giveaways, prizes, hole-in-one contests, closest-to-pin contests,” Ms. Burnham said.
When it started, the tournament was arranged to sponsor health care scholarships provided by the hospital.
Proceeds from the tournament now benefit the foundation, which in turn allocates funds toward hospital projects and equipment. JoAnn L. Zando, foundation development manager, said every department has been helped in one way or another over the years.
The 18-hole tournament will take place at Carlowden Country Club with a 9 a.m. tee time. Up to 35 teams of four can be accommodated, and there are still several spots available. Registration is $360 per team and includes a light breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as greens and cart fees. All participants will receive a gift, with prizes awarded to the winners in each flight. Gift baskets and other prizes will be available.
“We owe a tremendous thanks to Carthage Savings and Loan and all of our sponsors. And without our faithful golfers we would not have a tournament,” Mrs. Zando said. “Our volunteers are also extremely important.”
The tournament will feature two hole-in-one opportunities, one on hole 4 and the other on hole 16. Caskinette’s Lofink Motor Co. will donate a 2014 Ford Focus SE and Gambles Distributors also will make a donation.
