Master Sergeant Michael A. Morgan


WEST CARTHAGE – Master Sergeant Michael Allen Morgan, US Army, Retired, 45, of 57 Bridge St., died early July 17th at home, under the care of his family.

Born in Alexandria, Virginia on January 16, 1969, the son of Eddie & Rosemary Coleman Morgan. He married Lori Duke in Berryville, VA on April 16. 1994. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating and fishing. He also was a firearms enthusiast who dedicated his life to his family and the United States military. He attended St. James Catholic Church in Carthage.

He served in the United States Army for 26 years, just recently retiring from active duty. He served as Master Gunner and Standardization Instructor for crew chiefs and door gunners with the 2-10 Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum. His service included two tours in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. He was a graduate of the US Army Sniper School and was the recipient of the Audie Murphy Award and three bronze stars.

He is survived by his wife Lori, his children; Jordan, Taylor and McKenzie Morgan. Also surviving is his mother, Rosemary Hagaman and his siblings; Rachael (David) Luckett and Daniel Morgan & Anna Shoemaker. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19th from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. A funeral service and burial with military honors will be held in Berryville, Virginia.
