Carleton H. Lamica Sr, 82, 1240 Ives Street, Watertown, passed away Wednesday, July 16 at his home under the care of hospice surrounded by family.

Carl is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beverly and their three children, Nancy Johnson and her husband Michael, Watertown, Suzanne Lipman, and her husband David, Naples, Florida, and son Carleton Jr, Watertown. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Aaron Johnson, and his wife Stacie, Watertown, Stacy Siftar, and her husband Gabe, Rochester, Ryan Johnson, and his wife Shannon, Bend, Oregon, and Michael Keane, Plano, Texas. Carl was also blessed with four great grandchildren, Hannah, Rollin, Asa, and Wesley, who brought him great joy in his later years. Carl is survived by his brothers, James, Clay, NY, and Frank, Tampa, Florida. He was predeceased by his sister Joan, and brother George.

Carl, son of the late James and Madeline Lamica, was born December, 16, 1931, in Watertown over Gorri’s Market on Arsenal Street. He married Beverly Tarzia, daughter of the late Vito and Olive Tarzia, on November 04, 1951 at Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville.

He was a graduate of Watertown High School, and employed by the Grand Union Supermarkets from 1948 until being drafted into the army in 1951, to serve in Korea. After his discharge from military service in 1954, Carl went to work for Jeff Bottling Company (Pepsi Cola) as a driver salesman. He was an officer of that corporation from 1970 until the business was sold in 1999 to the Pepsi Bottling Group.

He is a former Board Member of Watertown Savings Bank, Past President of Sacred Heart Foundation and the Ives Hill Country Club. He has served various organizations, including Hospice of Jefferson County and Samaritan Foundation of NNY. Carl was a member of Ives Hill Country Cub, founding member of Tyro Investment Club and a member of Black River Valley Club.

Affectionally known as “Uncle Carl” to many, he enjoyed photography, golf and computers. Carl was frequently seen snow blowing Ives Street enjoying a cigar in the process. He will be remembered for his generosity and kindness.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 Monday July 21, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Church 123 S. Massey St. Funeral arrangements are with D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc.
