John M. Ryan, 73, Perch Lake Rd., Watertown passed away July 1, 2014.

A calling hour will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Saturday, July 26, from 9:30 - 10:30AM followed by the funeral service at the funeral home at 11AM with Rev. Steven Murray, pastor of Holy Family Church, presiding. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brownville American Legion after the cemetery service.

John was born in Watertown on October 7, 1940, son of Victor and Vesta Dodge Ryan and graduated from Cape Vincent High School in 1960.

He married Janice E. Boyle on September 16, 1967 at St. Anthony’s Church with Fr. Robert Lamite officiating.

He had worked for NY Airbrake and at various farms in the Cape Vincent area, including the Genessee and Nagel Farms. John was then a maintenance and boiler worker for Crowley Foods, LaFargeville for fourteen years. He also had served in the US Army in Vietnam.

He was a former member of the Pamelia Volunteer Fire Dept. and a former EMT for the Evans Mills Volunteer Ambulance Squad. He enjoyed being a mechanic for 25 years for the Jewett Bros. Racing Team.

Besides his wife, Janice, John is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey B. Ryan and wife, Debra, Sears Port, ME and Jason G. Ryan and companion, Debbie Worth, Watertown; two grandchildren, Morgan and Annaliese Ryan; sister, Jean Ryan, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. His brother, Charles “Chucky” Ryan, died before him.
