Reverend Brother Daniel A. Lauber C.F.C. of Madison MS and formerly of Massena, NY passed away on July 20, 2014, at St. Dominic’s Hospital, Jackson, MS after a valiant battle against bacterial meningitis. Bro. After attending St. Mary’s Elementary School and graduating in June of 1972 from Holy Family High School in Massena he entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers on September 5, 1972 taking his first vows on August 12, 1974 and final vows on August 21, 1980. He received his BS and MS in Biology from Iona College, New Rochelle, NY and went on to receive an MA in Counseling-Psychology from Manhattan College in NY. His ministry of 42 years took him to many positions including Edmund Rice Hall, New Rochelle, NY, Bishop Hendricken High School, Warwick, RI, All Hallows High School, Bronx, NY, Catholic Memorial High School, West Roxbury, MA, Blessed Sacrament-St. Gabriel High School, New Rochelle, NY, and finally to St. Joseph Catholic School, Madison, MS and the Christian Brothers Community in Madison, MS. Brother Daniel is also survived by his two beloved nephews Dylan and Drew Levac and Aunt Yvette (Vern) Peets and Uncle Jack (Pearl) Deshaies along with several cousins. His parents and grandparents pre-deceased him.

Brother Dan knew from a young age that his goal in life was to be a part of a Catholic religious order. He joined the Christian Brothers upon graduating high school because of their deep commitment to teaching, another of his passions. Brother Dan truly did “live, laugh and love”. He will be remembered always for his hearty laugh, great sense of humor, love of his family, friends and his community and the children that he taught and counseled. Brother Daniel enjoyed a good meal, good conversation and good friends. He will be forever in our hearts and minds and missed always.

A wake will be held at St. Joseph Care Center, 30 Montgomery Circle, New Rochelle, NY on Friday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Church, Mayflower Avenue, New Rochelle, NY on Saturday at 9:30 AM.
