Library Adds Mysteries From Popular Authors

JUST ARRIVED - Take a look into the mysterious lives of famous authors with The Search for Anne Perry and The Mockingbird Next Door, or dip into a mystery novel with The Silkworm by JK Rowling (writing as Robert Galbraith.) Many well-known authors released new books last week, including Richard North Patterson, James Lee Burke, CJ Box, and Bill Pronzini.

Children can cheer for Five Six Seven Nate or The Ninja Librarians, lift the flap to discover Who’s in the Tree, and discover colors with the characters of Star Wars. Teens might enjoy Dirt Bikes, Drones, and Other Ways to Fly, V is for Villain, or the watery tale Inland. If you’re in the mood for a film, we’ve just added The Lego Movie, comedy-horror flick Grabbers, and Season Three of Call the Midwife.

ZOMBIES - Know any teens feeling a craving for brains this summer? Have them shamble down to the library at noon on August 2. We’ll be hosting a zombie walk around the park. If anyone needs help getting into the spirit, we’ll have a makeup workshop at 10 a.m. the same day – makeup, materials, and fake blood provided. Wear old clothes – there will be splatter!

ON DISPLAY - There are two display cases in the main room of the library, just past the circulation desk. Currently, we are exhibiting pictures of original Ogdensburg buildings and the twin bridge construction. However, we are always looking for new displays. If you are a collector looking to show off your pride and joy, the library may be able to help. We are willing to host month-long displays in the wooden and circular cases. While topics of local interest are a priority, we’re happy to consider any collection of small items. In the past we’ve hosted antique chocolate molds, regional Girl Scout Memorabilia, and World War II artifacts. Contact Linda Marshall at 393-4325 for details and to reserve a time.

ADIRONDACK MUSEUM - Available at the library: a pass good for half-off admissions for up to three adults and their children to the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake. Stop in or call the library for full details. The museum is about two hours away and is a wonderful day trip for all ages.

AMAZON SMILE - Thank you to everyone who has participated in the Amazon Smile program. We’ve received over fifty dollars since April. If you want to help, log on to, choose Friends of the Ogdensburg Public Library as your charity, and shop as you normally would. Amazon will donate a percentage of your eligible purchase to the Friends for the use of the library. You must log into each time you shop, but everything else remains exactly the same.

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT - Toddlers are invited to shake out their sillies on Tuesdays at 10 AM. Meet other area families and come dance with us!

STORY TIME - Don’t forget about story hour! Every Wednesday at 10:30 AM we’ll share a picture book (or two) and do a simple craft related to a theme. All children ages 3-6 are welcome. During the summer, we will be outside in Library Park as the weather permits.

We welcome your QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, CONCERNS, BOOK REQUESTS, AND PROGRAMMING IDEAS. Contact us at 312 Washington Street,, 393-4325, or any of our social media sites (you can do a search for Ogdensburg Public Library, or find the links on our website at

WEEKLY SUMMER HOURS are 9 AM to 8 PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9 AM to 5 PM Wednesday and Friday, and 9 AM to 3 PM Saturday. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at your library!
