Rovers fall short to Maples

RAYMONDVILLE — The Ogdensburg Maples relayed the momentum of a four-run outburst in the top of the fifth inning into a 7-4 decision over the Norfolk Post 925 Rovers in an 18U baseball game played at Memorial Field on Wednesday.

Seth Pinkerton pitched five innings of hitless baseball to earn the win, striking out seven and surviving eight walks before giving way to Alex Hayes, who fanned two and gave up all three hits over the final two frames.

Hadyn St. Hilaire (5K, 3BB, 7H) went the distance in taking the loss.

Bryant Wentworth anchored a balanced Maples offense with two singles and two runs scored. Lefty Arsenault drilled an RBI-double and scored twice. Pinkerton had an RBI-single along with Mike Martin, who also came around to score a solo run. Andy Cole singled and drove in a run while Jordan Miller singled and scored once.

Isaiah Dillabough singled and scored twice to highlight the Rovers offense. Josh LaShomb connected for an RBI-single. Isaac Ward doubled and scored a run and Zach Brock singled to account for the other hit.

The two teams are slated to square off against each other this evening at Father Martin Field in Ogdensburg at 6 p.m.
