WATERTOWN - The FC Freeze U16 Boys closed out the regular season of the Northern New York Youth Soccer League battling the Upstate United FC Cozmos to a 2-2 tie.

In settling for the draw, the Freeze still managed to clinch the regular season title with an 8-1-1 record and will now gear up to compete in a post-season tournament this weekend in Philadelphia at the Indian River School Complex along with the rest of the teams in the league.

On Monday, despite outshooting the Watertown contingent 16-5, the locals were forced to settle for the deadlock. Malone’s Ian Mahoney scored a goal in each half with Parhisvhille-Hopkington’s Garret Hayes and Colton-Pierrepont’e Ethan Knight each drawing assists. FC Freeze pressured to get the game winner in the closing minutes with several opportunities from the rushes of Ogdensburg’s Peyton Lalone and Madrid-Waddington’s Tyler Robinson but a few strong stops from the Cozmos netminder secured the tie.

Lisbon’s Nick Spooner collected three saves in goal for the FC Freeze with Ogdensburg’s Ben Hammond and Parishville-Hopkington’s Lucas Snell turning in strong midfield play.
