Morrisonville – Robert M. LaBarge, Sr., 74, of Joyce Avenue, Morrisonville, died Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the CVPH Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Stockholm, New York, April 5, 1940, the son of Mitchell and Geraldine (Moulton) LaBarge. He grew up in Potsdam, New York and graduated from Potsdam High School in 1957. Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps 1957 and served until his honorable discharge in 1961.

He worked in management from MetLife for many years prior to his retirement.

Robert was a member of the American Legion in Plattsburgh, Champlain Valley Classic Cruisers, the North Country Classic Car Club as well as the Eliminators Car Club of the North East.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and showing his 67 Camaro at classic car shows. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors include his loving wife Fern LaBarge; two sisters, Beverly Austin and husband Oliver, Jane Austin and husband Jack; two daughters, Roberta Katz and husband Gerald, of Queenbsury, NY, Michelle Artus and husband Dale of Attica, N.Y.; six grandchildren; Rebecca Katz, Michael LaBarge, Nikki LaBarge, Lorri LaBarge, Sarah Bailey and husband Justin, and Rachel Woeller.

He was predeceased by his parents and son, Robert Labarge, Jr.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 5 to 7 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A memorial service will follow at 7 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Guy F. “Bill” Edwards, officiating. Military honors will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the US Air Force Aid Society , National Headquarters, 241 18th Street suite 202, Arlington, VA, 22202.
