Cuomo announces $250 million for clean-energy projects

A total of $250 million in state grant funding is available to fund clean-energy generation projects, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said Tuesday. To be administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, funding will be awarded for projects including wind farms, fuel cells, biomass facilities, renewable biogas and the upgrading of small to medium-sized hydropower projects, according to a news release from the governor’s office. The funding aims to promote the development of renewable energy sources statewide. Contracts for projects will be awarded for up to 20 years, making criteria similar to neighboring states.

“With access to some of the brightest minds in the country, as well as an abundance of renewal natural resources, New York has been a leader in renewable energy development and is committed to building a diversified, modern power grid,” Gov. Cuomo said in a statement. “This investment will help us reach this goal by driving the development of new projects and boosting economic growth in the process.”
