The graveside service for Michael W. Vrooman, Sr. 71 of 663 Olive Street Watertown will be private and at Riverside Cemetery in Cape Vincent. Mr. Vrooman died at his home on July 27, 2014 surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.
He was born December 20, 1942 in Ogdensburg, New York the son of Harold and Lena Preston Vrooman. He attended school in Ogdensburg, NY. He entered the United States Army National Guard October 21, 1961 and was honorably discharged September 25, 1963.
He married Patricia Ann Miles on April 15, 1968 in Cape Vincent. Mrs. Vrooman died July 2013. Mr. Vrooman worked in the press room and delivered papers for the Watertown Daily Times until he retired. He previously worked for the Town of Cape Vincent, Whites Lumber and Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to Hospice of Jefferson County. Surviving are his children Jeffrey Vrooman of Masbury, OH, Mrs. Mark (Rhonda) Kilmer of Clayton, Brenda Vrooman of Holden Beach, NC, Michele LaLonde of Watertown, Michael Vrooman Jr.and his fiance’ Bernie Blair of Clayton, NY, Calob Vrooman of Watertown, Robin Ross of Norfolk, VA, Mrs. Bob (Trina) Anderson of Haslet, TX, Jessie Vrooman of Killian, TX and Tisha Kendrick of Monroe, NC., and 24 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his only living brother and sister in law Gordon and Karen Vrooman of Watertown.
Pre deceased besides his parents and his wife are his son Richard, sisters Joann Eckert, Hazel Walker, Shirley Kirkland, Stella Dunn and his brothers Kenneth and Wesley Vrooman.
