Severe weather alert issued for parts of St. Lawrence County


MASSENA - The National Weather Service, Burlington, Vt., issued the following special weather statement Thursday morning.

A line of strong thunderstorms was moving through eastern St. Lawrence and Franklin counties at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The National Weather Service had said at 10:06 a.m. Thursday the line of thunderstorms was located from Waddington to Degrasse to 9 miles southwest of Star Lake moving northeast at 30 mph.

The National Weather Service had reported wind gusts to 40 mph and small hail up to dime size are possible with these storms. along with expect dangerous lightning.L ocations impacted include but are not limited to Potsdam, Raymondville, Norfolk, South Colton and Massena.

The statement from the National Weather Statement said if you are close enough to hear thunder you could be struck by lightning.
