CRIMINAL CONTEMPT - MASSENA - Village police charged Ricky A. Fields Jr., 31, of 166 Maple St., Massena, with a felony count of first-degree criminal contempt and second-degree harassment at 1:58 a.m. Saturday following a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend at the Delmar Tavern.

Police said Fields struck Jean Cox in the face during the argument. He was held in the village lockup overnight pending arraignment in Massena Court.

Village police had charged Fields with fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree harassment, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal trespass and resisting arrest at 1:45 p.m. July 13 on Riverview Street.

Police said they responded to a report Fields was attempting to break into Ms. Cox’s home during a dispute over child visitation issues. Police said Fields allegedly damaged a door jam after using an EBT card in an effort to open a locked door with Ms. Cox standing behind the door.

Police said Ms. Cox opened the door when police arrived on the scene, and Fields shoved the door open and pushed his ex-girlfriend. Police alleged Fields struggled when police attempted to take him into custody and was found in possession of a dagger. He also reportedly failed to comply with requests from Ms. Cox to leave the property. Police said the incident took place after Fields and Ms. Cox had argued over child visitation issues.

BENCH WARRANT - MASSENA - Village police picked up Raymond E. Artz, 39, no fixed address, on a bench warrant at 11:15 p.m. Friday. He was turned over to village police after being picked up on the warrant that alleged Artz had failed to appear in village court as directed on a pending theft of services count. He was arraigned on the warrant by Acting Massena Village Justice James M. Crandall and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $750 bail.

Artz, then listing a 15 Bridges Ave., Massena, address, had been charged with theft of services June 30 after he allegedly ordered $25.91 worth of drinks and food at Coach’s Corner and then left the restaurant without paying for his meal.
