Mark your calendars — the Children’s Home of Jefferson County is hosting a “Meet the Candidates” forum for all Jefferson County Family Court Judge candidates at 12 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Children’s Home Campus Dining Hall, 1704 State Street.
The candidates running in the race include Watertown attorneys Eugene J. Langone Jr. of Watertown, Kathy L. Quencer of Brownville and Susan A. Sovie of Sackets Harbor.
Mr. Langone and Mrs. Quencer will face each other in a Republican primary on Sept. 9.
Mrs. Sovie is running as a Democrat.
“Judge Richard V. Hunt is retiring from the bench after 30 years of service. The election of Judge Hunt’s successor will have significant impact for children and families throughout our community. As the race for Family Court Judge nears the finish line, the Children’s Home believes it is important for Jefferson County constituents to meet all the candidates...” wrote Barb Peck, director of Administration Services for the Children’s Home.
According to a news release about the event, the non-partisan forum will be moderated by Denise Young, executive director of the Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization. Each candidate will be given an equal amount of time to address the audience followed by a question and answer session.
The event is free and will include a box lunch for those who attend, according to the release.
