Calcium- The funeral service for Gary M. Reddick will be Thursday, August 14th, 11:00am at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown. Burial will follow the service in Brookside Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 13th, 4:00pm - 7:00pm at the funeral home.

Gary passed away at his residence on August 6th where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. He was 75 years old.

Gary was born in Ottawa, Ontario on August 19, 1938, and was a son to William Herbert and Vera Annie Martin Reddick. He received his education at Flagg School, Morrisburg. Gary’s companion of 31 years was Betty Marcell, who passed away in July 2010. His prior marriage to Pamela LaForest ended in divorce in 1976.

Until 1970, he was a partner with his father in farming. Later, he worked as a mechanic for the New York State Department of Transportation for 16 years, retiring in 2000.

Gary’s true passion was stock car racing, fishing, watching his grandchildren play sports, and Indian River Football.

Gary is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law: Stephen G. (Sheila) Reddick, Gouverneur, Jeffrey Reddick, Watertown; a brother: William Glenn (Alice) Reddick, Florida; his companions son: Cory (Shannon) Marcell, Philadelphia; 3 grandchildren: Quincy, Rowan, Raven; 2 step-grandchildren: Crystal (Cory) Shutts, Norwood, Jeffrey Webster, Gouverneur; a great-grandson: Cayden Shutts; 3 nieces: Kathy, Janice, and Krista; and 2 nephews: Ben and Mark.

Gary was inducted into the Northeast DIRT Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2010.

Donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, New York 13601.
